PLOT:
Need some cash? Looking for tips on how to get out of an arranged marriage? Seeking help for getting out of just about any jam you find yourself in? Well in this little Italian neighborhood, the crafty Scapino is your man. His elaborate schemes always seem to work, although they rarely go off without a hitch!
The modern Scapino, penned in 1970 by Frank Dunlop and Jim Dale, is based on Moliere’s 1671 comedy entitled The Trickeries of Scapin. The story is set at a waterfront restaurant in Naples. Scapino ,who has a reputation for hatching up brilliant schemes, is the conniving servant of Geronte . Both Leandro and Ottavio want his assistance in marrying the girls they have fallen in love with rather than girls that their fathers have already arranged for them. Scapino is immediately confident that he can hoodwink their fathers, but even the best laid plans can encounter surprises when dealing with stubborn and suspicious fathers.
